two years and counting

Two years ago today she was barely bigger than a package of baby wipes!

Lucky to have the best big sister in the whole world!

She liked being snuggled up in blankets.

And for some reason she loved having a bucket on her head!

When she was littler she wasn't so picky about her food.  Today all she wants is 'fre-fries'.

She loves to smile just a little bit more than she likes to make frown-ie faces.

She still has a little bit of chubbies on her cheeks.

We tried bangs, but somehow hair still ended up in her face.

She tolerates Batman.  Maybe she'll be my geek girl.

She can be pretty lazy.

She still loves owls.

She throws around lots of attitude already.

And today she turned 2 years old.

Every day she makes me laugh and makes me smile.  She runs to me and gives me hugs and kisses.  She is the best little big addition to our family.  I'm so incredibly lucky for you baby girl.

it goes by just about that fast.

my tiny little baby, born a little too early and just a little bit small.  you're already a year old now.

i just can't believe it.

sometimes you're kind of lazy.

but you're quick to smile.

you made our little family complete and i'm so happy every day that i get to wake up and dance around with you.  but don't grow up too fast...

birthday extravaganza

it was 1st birthday funday this weekend!  she had no idea what was going on, but she was excited to see friends and family and even more so to see cupcakes & cake pops!

my first pinterest project.  saw this & thought it looked easy enough for me to try and it worked!  they turned out really cute.

thanks to my sister and Jen we had little owl cake pop favors!  they turned out so cute and delicious too!

 

luckily the baking fairy has blessed both sides of our family!  my sister-in-law has done the cupcakes for every single one of emma's parties and now she keeps the tradition going with olivia's first party with these way too cute owl cupcakes!

 

olivia had no idea why everyone was singing to her and didn't know what to do with the candle.  she's lucky to have big sister around to help her blow it out.

 

she loves her food, but she's generous enough to share with cousin.

 

not too bad, but it was straight into the bathtub for her!

 

she was much more interested in opening presents than emma was at her age.  though the cards seemed to be much more fun than the presents until emma got them open for her!  she's clapping her thanks for all her great gifts.  she's one lucky girl!

we were able to get her down for a nap in the morning before the party and then one in the afternoon, but i think there was too much cupcake in her tummy.  she woke up in the evening pretty unhappy with all of us!  but today she was eying the leftover cupcakes already!

thank you to all of our friends and family who came out to help us celebrate!  we're so incredibly lucky to have all of you!

The babester is officially four months old today!

At her well baby check up she measured in at 14.5 pounds and 24 inches long.  All I kept thinking about was that woman who gave birth to the 14 pound baby.  She gave birth to my four month old.  Jeez.

All is well and she's healthy and happy.  Well, maybe not happy (all the time).  She can be quite the little grumpster and has nooooo problem telling you she's pissed.  We call it being a monku monku.  But she also is quick to smile when she's happy and has the funniest little laugh.  For the most part she's pretty happy, but recently she's been stuffy off and on and that doesn't make for a happy girl.  She really wants to hold her bottle and it's not always helpful, but she's getting the hang of it.  She tried some rice cereal the other day and decided that just doesn't happy fast enough so for now, she prefers her bottle.

It's funny how different Emma and Olivia are.  But everytime I think that they look so different I see pictures of Emma when she was around Olivia's age and think they don't really look so different.

Olivia definitely has more hair than Emma did at four months!  And more chubs.

However much they do or don't look alike though they sure don't mind hogging our bed.

Today Olivia is 2 months old!!

Wowzers!

We took her to her 2 month check up and she is 10 pounds and 22 inches long. She's in the 30-ish percentile for both. It's funny to me because Emma was aka ways in the 90+ percentile. She also had to get shots. Boooooo! But because she is participating in a study she only had to get 2 shots instead of 3. She still gets all the vaccines she needs, but doesn't have to get poked so many times.

She's smiling and 'talking' more now. She loves to stare at Ray and will follow him around with her eyes when he's nearby. She responds to Emma's voice, always happy to know her big sister is home from school. She's growing in leaps and bounds and though I wish sometimes she would stay a baby forever I can't wait to see her little personality emerge!

Anyhoo...Happy 2 Month Birthday my little munchy-kin! I'm so happy to have you every single day.

'twas a gooood weekend

It was a busy weekend, but a good one for sure!

We started off the weekend with a bit of bouncing in the bouncy house.  Ray was getting it ready for our niece's birthday party so he decided to set it up and Emma could invite her friends that live on our street over to bounce for awhile.  And bounce they did!

Then we got ready and headed out to our fellow Daisy Scout's house for hot cocoa and cookies before we went downtown to take part in the Holiday Tree Lighting Parade.

When it was time we made our way downtown and got lined up to join in the parade.  It was going to go down the main drag in Morgan Hill and end with the tree lighting.  We marched along with other Girl Scout troops and the girls were so excited to see all the floats the other groups put so much work into!

We didn't see them but Ray was able to take a picture of the Marines who lead the parade.  They were so impressive!

And here's our girls!  Their first time in the Holiday parade and in their Daisy uniforms!  They looked so cute!  It was so cool to see how many people came out to watch the parade.  They lined up along the street and cheered everyone on.  My parents, Auntie Marilyn, mother-in-law Frances & sister-in-law Theresa came all the way out just to watch the girls.  My mom had to leave right afterwards to go to work too!  It really solidified my belief that Morgan Hill is the best town EVER.  There's just such a feeling of community and pride.  And it was so much fun getting to spend more time with our Girl Scout parents.  We really lucked out in that department.  Each and every one of them is awesome and so gung-ho about giving our girls the best Girl Scout experience they can have.

After the parade we introduced the Kaisers and my in-laws to the Crying Tiger at Siam Thai Restaurant.  It's only the best steak EVER!

We had a great day and the weekend was only halfway over!

lazy birthday

The last days of November are a birthday bonanza in our house.  My birthday is on the 28th and Ray's is on the 30th.  It drives our family crazy, but then they should be happy because then we just have one dinner for both of us instead of two separate ones!

Sunday we had a game night with my family and some friends.  My team actually won at Pictionary!  Sometimes things just happen so fast in that game that by the time I process what's happening the other team is rolling the dice!  We played Disney Apples to Apples and then Sour Apples to Apples.  I love that game!  Tho I did not win either. :(

My birthday was just another day.  Emma woke up a little under the weather from the busy weekend and actually threw up a little.  I kept her home from school, fed her some toast and quarantined her on the couch.  She was much better by the afternoon.  When Ray got home we headed out to Babies R Us and got Olivia a two mobiles.  She's starting to get interested in checking that stuff out.  One goes on the changing table and you can attach it to a play pen or the stroller.  It's simple, pink with three little butterflies and it plays tinkling music.  She loves it.  It does a pretty good job of distracting her during diaper changes.  The other plays music and has three little round animals (a lion, a monkey & an elephant) that alternate lighting up.  They're like little lanterns.  It also will project a moon and stars onto the ceiling.  It's so cute, but so far she's not too interested.

Dinner at PF Changs so I could get some Salt & Pepper Calamari and Salmon steamed with Ginger.  Then we headed back home and I put together the mobile.

The next day was our shared birthday and we had dinner with Ray's family at an Italian restaurant.  Emma and I scoured Targets looking for these wafer cookies that Ray loves.  Found some at the 4th Target.  Score!

Today Ray had the day off for his birthday and decided he would hang out in bed and catch up on his TV and get some much needed rest.

So now it's 11:40 pm and everyone's asleep (for now) and the birthday festivities are over.  This weekend my niece turns 2 and we'll be attending her Minnie Mouse birthday party!  I can't believe it's been two years already!

I've got to get some stuff done around this house!  I'd like to get the Christmas decorations up and get our tree, but I'm not sure when we're going to get around to that!  I should start with finishing the laundry....
